Rules for Using the Tele-education room

This is the Tele-education room wiki page

Pending Issues with Tender

  1. Sound blaster Live 5.1 card
  2. Original VPoint software the original comes with the mxm CD and the update is downloadable. Anyways it is not working without the MXM
  3. Original QuickTime Pro
  4. Check DVD writer for 120GB disk NO. The HDD delivered is 80GB built in the system and not 120 as it was asked
  5. Problems with the touch panel/Netlinx programming Monday August 1st we'll start working on it with medion7
    1. Manual dialer does not work from the panel Note: HD5000 must be either on the DLP or the front TV for the manual dialer to work
    2. The front Plasma TV does not switch to s-video mode using the touch panel. Once you use the remote control then it can also be done from the panel.
    3. Rear camera movement does not work properly from the touch panel. Camera moves smoothly right and down. Up arrow takes the camera all the way up. The camera does not respond to the left arrow.
    4. Zoom-in does not work. Zoom-out works OK.
  6. The source code developed for programming the Netlinx/touch panel or any other device on lab must be provided in source code form Requested by email
  7. Reboot of the media server results in "blue" screen every time
    • this might be related to the DVD drivers (Christos Aposkitis will take care care of it) nsc
  8. MXM s/w Christos Aposkitis will bring the CD with the new version on September
  9. Switcher, audio Mixer and other systems labeling
  10. The microphone of position #5 is pointing to preset position #13 moved on the mic mixers to the correct position. Desk mic is on position 13 nsc We might run out of positions on the mic mixers if we buy the three missing student mics
  11. The Front camera looses its presets when it goes standby or looses power. fixed by flipping a switch at the back of it
  12. Date and time on the AMX panel are both wrong.

Things to remember about the room

  1. There are three (3) windows-based Machines in the room besides the one sitting on the teacher's desk
    • There is a need for "MANUAL" approval of only the critical windows patches for those three machines
    • We need to setup an update schedule for the machines
  2. There is pending installation of the third plasma display as well as wiring in the floor panel

Things to ask them when they come back

  1. Yamaha mixer (cables length)
  2. Gateway/gatekeeper operation
  3. Communication between the two campuses through the gatekeepers
  4. Addition (if possible ) of the satellite PC in the control room

Problems / suggestions about the room operation

  1. vga switch for the desk to connect the laptop or the desktop to the projector
  2. We need another DLP to project on the right hand side of the screen where the wide board will be placed. This will act as a digital white board.(using the mimio)
  3. Have the door's upper part to be replaced by glass.
  4. Place a tall stool in the control room for the operator. We need to get one from outside since there are no more stools in the store.
  5. Projector to be controlled from the AMX panel A new cable is needed from the projector to the control room. It will be charged extra and it will cost about €500 with the panel reprogramming
  6. Problem with VC connection. Remote user video is not shown in the main screen. neither on VNC nor on the projector.
  7. Media server sometimes stuck while trying to playback a streaming. (Nicos)
  8. Input / output ports of media server to AMX
  9. Local video is lost when trying to change camera on the HD5000
  10. HD5000 remote control does not work from the room (Nicos)
  11. Does not accept incoming calls from the UCy tandberg system and other places
  12. Voice Tracking microphones??? are sending voice feedback. Remote user hears his voice echoing back.
